Five local militants have been killed in a gunfight in south Kashmir's Kulgam district. Police said that three of slain militants were involved in the killing of an off-duty Territorial Army man Lance Naik Mukhtar Ahmad Malik at Kulgam in September last year.
Meanwhile, four police personnel, four civilians and three CRPF men were injured in a grenade attack in city centre in the evening. Militants hurled a grenade on a security picket near Palladium at around 6.45 pm which exploded with a bang.
Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the Srinagar grenade attack.
