West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched an attack on the BJP, alleging the BJP-led Central Government is trying to incite riots in Bengal and turn the State into Gujarat.
After the administrative review meeting at Nabanna, she also maintained that law and order situation in the State was fine.
Ms Banerjee alleged that the Centre is trying to incite riots in the State using social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp.
The chief minister said, “Facebook has become ‘Fake’book. They are using social media to defame Bangla. Some incidents happened, but we have controlled them.”
Ms Banerjee warned the Centre that democracy is not for sale, and alleged that most democratic institutions of the country have been captured by the BJP.
She maintained, “There is peace in Bangla. They are beating up people; even the police have not been spared. I want to warn you. Do not insult Bangla. We will not allow that.”
The chief minister alleged that the BJP was misusing the agencies and using money power to intimidate political opponents. She said the country will reject such politics. She was confident that BJP’s mask will come off. She also warned the BJP that she cannot be intimidated with threats of sending her to jail.
