Govt decides to raise four more NDRF battalions

The government has approved a proposal of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to raise four more battalions of the NDRF, each comprising 1,000 recruits. This aims to further strengthen the disaster response architecture in the country.

          The cost of raising the battalions is estimated to be Rs 637 crore. Informing about the decision taken at the meeting of the Union Cabinet, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad said, “Approval has been granted to an MHA proposal to raise four additional battalions of the NDRF at an estimated cost of Rs 637 crore.”
