Govt may propose to sell 100% shares of Air India: Report

After failing to secure any expression of interest from parties with regards to the Air India bid, the government may now attempt to revive the sale of the national carrier under new guidelines, where it will sell its entire 100 per cent stake. The national carrier is falling short of funds.

          A few days ago, after no firms approached to float a bid for the national carrier, the government-owned airline faced difficulty in paying its staff and the government had to step in and guarantee a loan on behalf of Air India. Some of the parties which were in the fray to buy the debt-ridden airline expressed that certain conditions floated by the government were hard to accept.
