Cannot extend debt waiver: Amarinder

CM Amrinder Singh said his government cannot extend the debt waiver scheme to all farmers or waive more than Rs 2 lakh. He blamed lack the Centre for it’s lack of support coupled with bad finances.

Cold weather conditions continue to prevail in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, with Admapur in Jalandhar being the coldest in the region with a low of 2.1 degrees Celsius.

 Chief Minister Manohar Lala Khattar confortin light of reported rape cases in Haryana, they would enact a law to hang those convicted of raping girls aged 12 and below. He also said  that they would approach the judiciary for setting up fast-track courts for dealing with rape cases to ensure speedy justice to the victims.

In the wake of heightened threat to the civil aviation sector ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, entry for the visitors, except passengers, at the Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport was banned from today.As per the alert issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation, visitors’ entry will be banned till January 30.

CM Manohar Lal Khattar said the state government would urge the Centre for early execution of the Supreme Court order on the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal so that Haryana could get its rightful share in the river waters. Khattar also said that the present government had ensured speedy hearing of the case in the Supreme Court which was lying pending for years.

 Inaugurating the 70th annual conference of the IMA, Punjab, Finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that The Congress government is working earnestly to revive the state’s economy and in the fourth year of the government, they will present a surplus Budget.

A team of Swachta Survey 2018, again conducted checking in various areas of the city and also took feedback from people in the city. The team also visited solid waste management plant on Mansa road and checked the working of the plant and how garbage is disposed.
