(UNI) In order to maintain peace, three hundred jawans of Commando Force and 140 Jawans of Armed Reserve Police arrived at Phagwara replacing additional force of three hundred jawans called from districts Jalandhar, Nawanshahr and Hoshiarpur.
This was confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police Satinder Singh while talking to mediapersons here on Sunday evening. SSP held meeting with SP Phagwara Mandeep Singh and ASP Sandeep Malik to review the law and order situation in the town on Sunday.
Though normalcy returned in the town on Sunday due to the efforts of Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mohammad Tayab and Senior Superintendent of Police Kapurthala Satinder Singh ,the administration is leaving no stone unturned in making Monday peaceful which will be the second working day after tension erupted in Phagwara. ASP Malik said," special nakas are being organised at sensitive places and “Foot Patrolling” is being conducted in the sensitive town to maintain peace."
SSP Satinder Singh said a 14-member Saanjha Phagwara Parivar Committee, comprising seven members from each community, would work to maintain peace and harmony in the town and solve any problem amicably.
