(UNI) In another major crackdown, Ropar police nabbed North India's most wanted criminal Akashey Pehlwan alias Kali after an exchange of fire in Nurpurbedi area of the district and recovered three 32 bore pistols and ammunition from him.
CIA and Ropar police teams nabbed 19-year-old Akashey, who carries a reward of Rs one lakh by Haryana police and Rs 10,000 by Rajasthan police on his head, as he ran out of bullets. He is wanted in 15 murder and 20 cases of highway robbery and dacoity in Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.
“Akashey was planning to kill a person in Sonipat owing to an old rivalry. He had already done a recce to execute the killing. He visited Nurpurbedi area of Ropar district to arrange weapons and logistic support. Three pistols of 32 bore and ammunition has been recovered from him,” Ropar SSP Swapan Sharma shared on Monday.
The gangster was jailed in September, 2015 for 18 months for three gruesome murder cases in Sonipat (Haryana). Being a minor, he was on bail since 2017. Once out of jail he got associated with Delhi-based gangster Raju Bisaudi of Sonipat. Here, he was involved in three murders and cases of loot and extortion. He ran an organised extortion racket of cattle smuggling in Haryana and Western Uttar Pardesh.
