(UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP decided observed “Vishvaghat Divas” on March 2 to protest against the ‘betrayal’ by the Congress government with the people of Punjab. The two parties will hold constituency-wise protests throughout the state.
“The Congress Government in Punjab has put the people of the state on a ventilator, stabbing farmers, traders, employees, Dalits and every other section of Punjabis in the back by going back on all the tall promises made to them during the campaign,” the SAD president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal and the BJP state unit president Shwet Malik alleged during the joint press conference after a meeting of the state-level coordination panel of the two parties at the SAD headquarters here on Saturday evening.
The two parties decided to put pressure on the state government to release the arrears for all the installments of DA to the state government employees and not play havoc with their day to day life.
Giving details of the decisions taken at the meeting to the media, the two leaders said that the SAD BJP would go into the election campaign as one alliance unit as the bond between the two was far more than political arrangement and was in fact a social commitment to preserve peace and communal harmony in the state. The two parties decided that coordination committees between the two parties will be set up at the district and the constituency levels. These will be addressed by the two presidents.
