Sand mafia: AAP serves ultimatum to Punjab CM By Indian Times Daily

(UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) served an ultimatum to the Punjab Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh to tame the sand mafia active in the state.

It caution the government that if it failed to take an urgent call on issue, the entire AAP leadership of Punjab would be free to take on the high and mighty sand mafia on its own, beginning from Ropar where it’s a free-for-all phenomenon.

In a joint statement here by party MLAs Amarjit Singh Sandoa and Punjab state NRI Wing President Jai Kishan Singh Rori, the AAP accused the ruling Congress Government in the state of patronizing those behind the illegal trade of mining.

"The sand mafia was running the illegal trade in the area under the protective patronage of the government and police dispensation", they said. They claimed that trucks and tippers ferrying sand could be seen ruling the roads at night without the fear of law of the land.
